Game of the Week - Frogger Tag
Frogger Tag
This game is played similar to color tag and ships across the ocean, since the students must get to the opposite side of the gym without getting tagged. For this game, the students must leap like a frog if they are a tagger and crab walk to bear walk (insect walk) if they are a fleer. There are 3-4 taggers who are holding a Gopher frog to tag with. or are on their hands and feet for the entire game. There are 6-8 taggers who are holding a Gopher frogs to tag with. I instruct the students to hold the frogs with two hands for better control. The game is started with a "go" signal. All ants (students) must move around on their hands and feet (either a crab or bear walk position). They will use their dodging and evading skills to avoid being tagged. If an ant (student) is tagged, they must go to the belly (holding area) where they need to do 10 jumping jacks to return to the game. I also let the students know that when I blow my whistle we will find a winner (last remaining ant). I will adapt the game by having the students perform different exercises to return to the game, change the size of the game area, or change the number of taggers.
Equipment
6-8 Gopher Frogs
6-8 jerseys for taggers (not required)
4 cones to designate the game area
