Hungry Hungry Hippo

Today, we played a new game I created. "Hungry Hungry Hippo" No not the kids board game... This was during our floor hockey unit. There are 8 teams of 6-7 students and we use the whole gym. Each team has one stick and one goal. The object of this game is much like the board game. You need to get as many balls into your goal. It works much like a relay, where the students race one at a time into the middle of the gym where all the balls are and dribble one back to shoot into their goal. Once they have scored a goal they hand off the stick to the next student who is waiting behind their goal. I have about 150 balls scattered across the gym and they game usually lasts about 5 minutes. We will play it a second time the same as the first, but the third round I alter the rules by making the students shoot the balls into other goals. The winner in the first two rounds is the team who has the most balls inside their goal. The winner in the third round is the team who has the fewest balls inside their goal.

Equipment needed:

8 hockey sticks
8 Pugg Goals
100-150 soft play balls
